The complaints residents bring to the just discovered Athens Village Board about decaying mobile firesides might not be fruitless a great deal of longer.

The Village Board is risk to review a proposal that would allow the village to penalize holders of mobile homes who allow their properties to become unsafe or eyesores.

"It gives us an opportunity, a way to force the proprietors to either bring them back up to digest or move them out," said Dave Filkins, a member of the ordinance committee.
