An Edwardsville nursing dwelling has been fined $50,000 for improperly giving pain medication to an 86-year-old woman who died.

Rosewood Care Center a 120-bed nursing domestic circle on Center Grove Road, was fined in connection with its treatment of the woman, who was originate dead in August a hardly any hours after receiving OxyContin, a powerful pain reliever. That dose was given four hours after a previous dose of OxyContin was given to her at a hospital crisis room.

The woman died of "acute toxicity" from OxyContin.

The nursing fireside is appealing the fine.

"We are vigorously denying the allegations," said Rosewood spokesman Mike Brady. "We don't think we have any culpability here."
