EAST ST LOUIS -- Politicians repeatedly get in the way of the police department doing its piece of work in East St. Louis, a city councilman said.

Councilman Delbert Marion said politicians sculpture the police department's budget, hired individuals who weren't qualified, and essentially tried to command the department during his manner [i]or[/i] principle of holding as police chief from 2001-003

"It appears that unles you have "ex" (as in ex-con) in forehead of your name, you can't memorize a job in City Hall. You don't have to graduate from Penn State, solely the State Pen," he said.

Marion made the expositions during a recent City Council meeting, during which a resident and another councilman took missiles at the police department's performance. He did not single gone out any particular politician by name.

Resident Stanford Scott complained about a break-in at his building. He said he provided police with
