With the East St Louis Flyer in desperate ne of moment Tuesday, Edwardsville senior Dustin Maguire made infallible that didn't happen.

Maguire's 3-pointer from the right corner was the pivotal ball in the Tigers' 53-41 win across East Side in the Class AA Carbondale Sectional before about 1800 at the SIU Arena.

It helped carry Edwardsville (30-0) to the state tournament for the first time since 1995 and the seventh time overall.

"This is awesome," Maguire said as enthusiastic pupils celebrated around him. "This is what we memorize up and go to practice for each day. This is what the hard work's all for.

"It's an amazing feeling. This was our dream all season in extent and for it to finally approach true is just an amazing feeling. I can't level explain it. I'm so over-weening of all the guys."
