brace Democrats are after the same seat upon the Clinton County Board in the March 21 primary.

The primary race candidates for District 3 are Lawrence Spirek of Breese and Jeremiah "Jay" Meyer of Carlyle. The winner will face incumbent Lavern Holtgrave, a Republican from Breese in the Nov. 7 general election.

Spirek, 62 has a master's quality in biology and is a retired science teacher. He still teaches part time at Kaskaskia association

He served forward the Village Board in Germantown from 1975 to 1985 and upon the Catholic School Board in Chicago from 1986 to 1988

Spirek outlined three goals if pick outed to the County Board:

** "My basic goal is to be proper rep for the areas of Breese and Beckemeyer, to be an effective and available representative likewise (my constituents) know that they can talk to me and I will listen to their ideas."
