Electres Sophie of Hannover (1630-1714) was undivided of the most remarkable European women of the Early recent Age. Born on October 14 1630 she was a member of several influential European dynasties at birth and later by way of marriage. (1) Her parents were Friedrich V (1596-1632) Elector of the Palatinate, and Elizabeth Stuart (1596-1662) a daughter of James I of England. Sophie's father became famous as the "Winter King."
