As mentioned earlier, 10 extra real-words and 5 extra pseudo-words were included in the pilot proof so that any misfitting items could be delet from the final version while still retaining 60 piloted items upon the final version (40 real-words and 20 pseudo-words). As by the Rasch analysis' results, the 10 real-words that were not included in the final version of the experiment were partly misfitting items, that is, hard words that "low ability" participants unexpectedly note carefullyed to spell correctly and easy words that "high ability" participants unexpectedly wait oned to spell incorrectly (e.g. jirafa, ram, ambos, orquesta). Another factor that played a part in the final decision to eliminate an of the pilot test items was the fact that there were a not many cognate words that were fited differently in both languages (eg compa?±?a, ca?±??n, cuestionario, orquesta). In these cases, it was hard to figure abroad whether the reason they were misspelled by way of some participants was because of the features themselves (eg the in compania or canon), or because they were familiar with the English spelling and were using this instead of the Spanish spelling to write these words. Finally, there were a not many items (i.e., hijos, columpio, inseparables) that were eliminated because there was no ne for any extra features of the shadow those words represented (/x/, /mp/ and /s/ respectively). Similarly, of the five pseudowords not included in the final experiment three of them were misfits (cuestario, laumpre, telpa?±?a), and the remaining sum of two units irrol and pregues, were unnecessary to maintain the minimum requirement of four items for feature.
