The United Way of the Lower Mainland has a goal of raising $287 million in 2000 to help charities and community exhibition organizations. This year's Campaign Chair for the United Way of the Lower Mainland is John Reid, FCA, the president and CEO of BC Gas. "For 70 years the United Way has been the community builder in our region at raising funds for charities and community growth organizations," said Reid. "One of the main goals for 2000 is to increase the awareness of the importance of United Way's character in building healthy communities which is critical to a prosperous campaign."
