The first class has graduated from the Module 1 pilot-and they rated the just discovered program a huge success. The arrange of about 25 students exhausted ten weeks as new bookish mans in the virtual world of Parkhurst & Loewen. Their first client, Natalee, sent them revealed to explore the world of small business-from finding not at home how to get a business number, to dealing with computer viruses and handling personal tax issues. While greatly of their work was done individually, in the final week they worked in small clumps (often completely electronically) to shake together a business plan for Natalee's catering company. The following weekend, in the three-day interactive workshop that caps the Module the assemblages met and presented their plans to a banker.

Developing a competencybased education program from scratch has been an enormous undertaking. The be the effects of the pilot are an early sign that the effort present into creating the program will provide learners with the ultimate payoff: a great education, closely linked to their work experience.

Student said they were surprised according to how realistic the situation at Parkhurst & Loewen was, including the firm Intranet that houses resources for the Module They erect their interactions with the client, Natalee, and the partners at the firm realistic, and said the tasks they were asked to undertake were practical and directly applicable to their work lives.

Working on-line without traditional deadlines for assignments required a certain number of juggling skills. Many found disclosed the hard way that getting behind in their assignments created a big point in dispute and they offer this piece of advice to hereafter students: "Don't fall behind in your work!" forward the plus side, the on-line environment gives scholars flexibility to study during business trips, and the high-speed connection makes the proces of researching and participating on-line more efficient. mostly of the students spent 10-15 hours each week onward the program, although some weeks required more work than others.

One of the tonics to the pilot's success was the vital part of the facilitators. Facilitators provided feedback upon assignments until they felt close examiners had mastered the concepts they povertyed to move onwards. Many of the pilot bookish mans commented on the high quality; positive feedback they received from facilitators.

Scott Sinclair, CA, a facilitator and co-developer of the program, explanationed that, "The program embodies a fresh type of learning, and the learners in the pilot are true clear that this new prototype is a successful one. It challenges observers rewards them for their work, and provides fast feedback forward whether they understand concepts."

There were a scarcely any growing pains. Technical hiccups held up one students for a short period. Others said they would have liked a faster move round around after assignments were submitted. unless overall, the students in the pilot Module erect the CASB experience to be intense, realistic, challenging, and satisfying.

Jennifer Thoew an articling bookish man at Manning Elliott, sums up the of the present day program in the following way: "I was hesitant at first about on-line learning. I fancy it would be one-dimensional. What I'm finding is that it's interactive, dynamic, and interesting. The online experience is designed to emulate real life, in such a manner I'm actually using the tools and skills I'd use to win answers for clients. I especially like the constant feedback from instructors.

"I'm individual of a few people who have christendomed over from the traditional CA program into the just discovered one. With this new format, I'm actually applying what I'm learning and I'm able to retain information plenteous better. I think it's great because I'm not just acquiring knowledge-I'm putting it to use."
