Frese, CA; Patrick Y W Wong CA; and Gordon J Zacher, CA. a partner with KPMG in Victoria, received recognition this year for his service to several community assign places tos in the Victoria area. from top to toe his career he's volunteered his time to numerous organizations, serving in a variety of capacities. publicly he is the Secretary-Treasurer for Victoria United, a semi-professional soccer team; Treasurer of the Capital Region Prostate Information Centre; and a Member of the Board of Advisors to the University of Victoria Business teach He's also a Past President and Director of the Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce; Past Treasurer and Trustee of the Greater Victoria Hospital Society and Foundation Boards; and Past President and Director of the Victoria Estate Planning Council. Anderson says that he chose to present because he believes that working in public practice gives chartered accountants a unique skill-set beneficial to offer organizations, and because he be perceiveds privileged as a CA to be able to donate time and knowledge back to the community. Though he still "cannot wait to get by heart to work in the morning," he'll be retiring from KPMG in September 2001 He encourages modern CAs to get involved in volunteerism early in their careers, because "helping organizations achieve their goals tenders a tremendous satisfaction, both professionally and personally." Anderson firmly believes the CA profession is in like manner successful because of volunteerism among its members. Anderson became a CA in BC in 1970 has worn out the last two years as the present Provincial Treasurer for the BC Council of the Girl Guides of Canada. She became involved with the dispose as a leader in 1989 while still a CA scholar Nancy says that she chose to commit a man and wife of hours each week to the Girl Guides because she wanted to reach on the outside to young girls in the community. Eld became a CA in Ontario in 1993 and a member in BC in 1994 For six years, Norbert H Frese CA, has lived in and worked to strengthen the community of Salmon Arm. A partner with BDO Dunwoody LLP's Salmon Arm office, Frese says he have the advantage [i]or[/i] blessing ofs living in the community and that wanting to help build it is a big motivating factor for his volunteerism: "There is in such a manner much going for us." He says he simply wants to help make it a better place. To that conclusion he's served on committees for dips Unlimited, the Salmon River Watershed Roundtable, the Salmon Arm Chamber of exchange the Salmon Arm Business Expansion and Retention Program, and his son's hockey team. He also teaches seminars to local business folks and has assisted in building a novel pre-school and playground. According to Frese having an understanding family and supportive colleagues makes it easier to piece of legerdemain his professional life with the many offer activities he finds so rewarding. "I learn thus much from what I do," says Frese He finds the present experience extremely educational because it not solely allows him to use his professional skills, still also allows him to acquire just discovered ones: "I helped build something. I've not at any time done that before." Frese became a CA in BC in 1991 Patrick Y W Wong CA, a partner with Wong Robinson & Co in Vancouver, has devot earnestly of his time to almost 30 non-- profit organizations. He's commonly involved with the Canadian Liver Foundation Asian progress to maturity committee, the Vancouver Chinatown Merchants Association, the Vancouver-Kensington Chinese Seniors association and is the co-chair of the Friends of Older bodys Its with this last organization (a continuation of the Year of the Older parts Committee) that Wong hosts eight-course restaurant dinners for about 4000 Lower Mainland seniors. The multicultural terminations also include performances and gifts. Funding advances from sponsors in the community, as well as from Wong's clients, friends, and relatives. His clump of volunteers has also started hosting parties at seniors' locations in order to lengthen out access to those less mobile.
