Attracting scholars to the Professi...Attracting scholars to the Profession It's our secondary year talking on campuses about CASB. Last year was a whirlwind of activity with extra information sessions scheduled at the traditional recruiting campuses of UBC SFU and BCIT (which account for more than two-thirds of BC's students) and a limited participation at the University bodys around the province. In addition to talking to scholars on campus, we spoke to summer learners co-op students, and new hires in the Lower Mainland's national firms. We supported these in-person information sessions with recent brochures, print ads, and newspaper postscripts In short, we talked to as many interested bookish mans as we could about what was happening. Our goal for this year is to do plane more. Students now know more about the CASB program-both end our efforts and from talking to persons who are currently involved in the program. We know that the on a level of interest on campus is equal greater this year than last. And while we will be talking to close examiners about the advantages of the just discovered CASB education system, we know that we also ne to continue addressing their affairs about all of the fresh changes to CA education. united of our key messages will be to obstruction students know that CASB welcomes their suggestions and is working to improve all aspects of the program as it receives their feedback. Providing information forward CASB is a big focus of our spirit but our primary focus is to break by means of the stereotype of accountancy that many young populace still hold. As President Frank Barr, FCA, newly told Times Colonist reporter Andrew A. Duffy (Victoria: July 18 2001) the reality of the profession is far more exciting than the public would imagine. between the sides of a series of ads, profiles of CAs and scholars and information about what CAs do in today's business environment, we're getting the message disclosed that CAs are business leaders, strategists, and sought-after advisors in the business community. Another focus for the year will be to unfold linkages with the University college edifice or buildings Last year, the Institute spoke at four of the five University college edifice or buildings in the province. This year, we'd like to have a air at all of them, and make unfailing that faculties are well briefed onward the CASB program. Our faith is to incorporate University body presentations with the President's Tour-- thereby reinforcing the value our presidents place forward recruitment and ensuring that bookish mans have access to the profession's "top" populace We'll also be supporting career fairs and individual speaking opportunities by dint of sending Institute representatives and from inviting local CAs to attend. Wherever possible, we'll support these activities with media and advertising to further communicate the advantages of the CA profession. One of the biggest recruiting challenges we face is to make secure that students interested in the profession are able to find training positions. Although scholar registrations have dropped across the native land in the last decade, they've remained steady in BC If we succe in attracting steady more students to the profession, we'll ne a corresponding increase in firm training positions. We'll also ne to help close examiners find the right firms for them. Right now, a regional list of approved training offices in BC is available forward the CASB website; we're also hoping to expand our ability to match bookish mans and firms through the "Become a CA" website. We recognize that there's more we can do in the area of promotion, and we'll continue to expand our activities.
