In late September, the BC Check-Up, Edition 2001 was mailed to all CA members in the province. The report, the third annual, is a comprehensive profile of British Columbia as a place in which to live, work, and invest.

The first BC Check-Up report was released in 1999 to display trends in the province's economic and social health. In 2000 the report was expanded to include comparisons with the other "have" provinces of Alberta and Ontario, as well as with the national average, in order to provide a words immediately preceding [i]or[/i] following in which to analyze BC's performance. The 2001 report builds forward last year's report by adding any additional statistical indicators, as well as more [i]or[/i] less perspectives on recent policy directions (eg personal and business tax cuts)

The Institute is releasing the BC CheckUp report to raise awareness of the profession within the business community, moderns media, and the government. The report provides decision makers with a detailed review of the province in elucidation social and economic indicators, and highlights the part of CAs in areas beyond tax and audit.

Media Campaign

To increase media attention, this year's BC Check-Up report findings were released through a period of three weeks. The INVEST section was released onward September 17, followed by the LIVE section onward September 24, and WORK upon October 1. (Last year's report was released through the whole extent of a period of three days.)

The three-week release schedule allowed weekly and daily newspapers to receive the information at the same time-a strategic persuade designed to bolster regional media coverage.
