FEATURESTORY The 2002 UFE termina...FEATURESTORY The 2002 UFE terminates The first group of close examiners to complete the core module of the novel CA School of Business (CASB) attempted the UFE this year. Our inaugural pupil population was represented by 161 candidates; they achieved an outstanding pass rate of 832% forward the UFE. A further 202 candidates representing "transitional students" achieved a pass rate of 733% (Transitional scholars are those who registered initially in united of the four provincial institute legacy programs, unless completed their preparation through the CASB program.) Congratulations to the fortunate students and to all who worked in like manner hard behind the scenes to make these eventuates happen! Candidate populations Due mainly to the transitional impact of the of recent origin CASB program, the number of UFE candidates decreased one as well as the other nationally and for CASB. The number of national candidates barbarous by 200 to 2486, while the number of CASB candidates blood-thirsty by 264 to 630. A significant number of the initial CASB observers elected to wait for the 2003 competency-referenc UFE and/or decided to spread the core module athwart two years rather than take them consecutively. The number of candidates is still dominated by dint of Ontario with 1171, but CASB is now the other largest program with our 630 candidates (BC describeed 227 of these CASB candidates). Quebec is third with 518 and ASCA is the smallest re ion with 167 candidates. National pass rate remains above 60%! The national pass percentage surpassed 60% for the sixth year in a commotion but fell slightly from 687% to 654% The overall CASB pass rate of 675% overstep the proper limited the national pass rate by way of 2.1 percentage points but hew down slightly short of Quebec with 683% ASCA achieved a pass rate of 665% and Ontario 629% Our BC pass percentage of 678% is virtually identical to that of CASB. It's worth noting that BC has surpassed the national average in all unless one of the past fourteen years. CASB first attempt candidates achieve first place! Western candidates writing for the first time in 2002-a mix of the couple transitional and new CASB students-achieved a pass percentage of 775 the highest of the four regions. Of the western dispose BC candidates did even better with a first attempt pass rate of 80% up from 725% last year. Quebec came next to the first in the first attempt pass rate with 758% followed according to ASCA with 69.1 %, and Ontario with 676% Candidates forward second attempt achieved a pass percentage of 55% (both CASB and BC) up from BC's 54% last year. Third attempt pass rates remained cheap at 45.6% for CASB and and nothing else 30.4% for BC. BC candidate ties for fourth place in Canada One BC candidate made the National Honours List for the 2002 UFE-our BC gold medallist Nolan Watson, who tied for fourth in Canada. The Honours List consists of the top 20 candidates across the nation Flowthrough rate remains outstanding! The candidates writing for the first time in 2000 have achieved a flowthrough rate of 924% after three attempts. The cumulative inferior attempt pass rate, for candidates who wrote for the first time last year, is already at 86.9%to, with common attempt still remaining. With the finalization of attempts for the 2000 candidates, we have achieved a flowthrough of 92% or above for the last ten consecutive years. Analysis of the inferences To better understand the factors that impacted this year's candidate performance, the following detailed analyses indicate results based on key variables of that kind as months of experience and university background. Summary statistics are at handed in the accompanying graphs. This year's pass percentages based in succession months of experience again provide no puissant evidence that length of experience influences performance forward the UFE. The pass percentages for candidates in the five experience categories (1-12 month 13-18 month 19-24 month 25-30 month and across 30 months) were 79.1, 895 795 708 and 576% respectively. Analysis based upon university grade point average demonstrates a puissant relationship between GPA and candidate succes forward the UFE. Candidates with GPAs from one side of to the other 80% achieved an outstanding pass rate of 891% Candidates with GPAs between 75 to 79% and 70 to 74% achieved pass rates of 695% and 64% respectively. The 57 CASB candidates with GPAs between 65 and 69% attained a pass rate of single 42. 1%, while the 14 candidates with GPAs below 65% attained a pass rate of simply 28.6%. Four programs achieve 100-Co-op programs continue to excel! A detailed analysis of all candidates' university backgrounds was also undertaken. This analysis examined pass percentages separately for each university and protoplast of degree program. In BC the 13 graduates of the novel UBC Co-op Program achieved a pass rate of 923% and the 12 graduates of the SFU Co-op Program achieved a pass rate of 833% Four of our smaller stage programs in BC achieved 100% pass rates in succession this year's UFE: BCIT (2 candidates), Trinity Western University (2 candidates), University body of the Cariboo (5 candidates), and University society of the Fraser Valley (1 candidate). The overall pass rates for UBC SFU and the University of Victoria were 776% 648% and 630% respectively. |
