Editor: We were unable to include a profile of and zinc medallist Mark Ye in the January 2003 issue of Beyond Numbers. It is with the two our apologies and our congratulations to Mark and Deloitte & Touche LLP that we bring you the following profile.

Just believe

"After the UFE" Mark Ye recalls, "I felt like I might have done just well enough to pass, if it be not that nowhere near the top ten-let alone medalling."

In fact, Ye was in such a manner surprised when he saw his score that he phon the CASB registrar's office to confirm his candidate number.

"I just couldn't believe it was true" he explains. "It was a total shog and definitely a pleasant surprise."

Ye who's now in his next to the first year of full-time articling with Deloitte & Touche LLP in Vancouver, is emphatic when it flows to thanking his UFE mentors and supporters, the pair at the firm and at family circle

"I'd like to thank my UFE mentor Ron Ho CA, for all his help, support, and guidance," he says. "And I thank my coach, Henry Honda, CA (Just believe), for believing in me I'd also like to thank my parents and my girlfriend for their tremendous have a passionate affection for and support through this entire process"



Ye also gives credit to his meditation partners at Deloitte & Touches Andrew Oh Ada Saw, and Jenny Hong He fondly remembers single in kind of their shared rituals.

"When our cluster studied together," he recounts, "we always went to a Chinese diner called 'Silverstar' for luncheon because we were always in such a manner tired and didn't want to make any more decisions. likewise after the third day of the exam, before going to the firms UFE celebration, sum of two units of us went there for luncheon to reminisce."

The four meditation partners clearly benefited from their assemblage sessions, as each of them favorably completed the 2002 UFE. Ye presents them a hearty congratulations, and fill outs this congratulations to all of the year's happy writers, saying: "We did it! IT'S ALL OVER!"

Born in Beijing, China, Ye came to Canada in 1989 He lived in Halifax for three years before moving to Vancouver, where he attended Eric Hamber Secondary seminary

After high school, he attended the University of BC completing a order in the Accounting Co-op program.

As far as the events to come is concerned, Ye says he's keeping an lay open mind. "Right now I just want to absorb what's happened," he says. "I will papal court what opportunities are available, yet I still need to qualify first!"

He wishes useful luck to next year's writers, and proposes them a sage bit of advice: "Go to Silverstar for lunch-they succor an excellent baked spaghetti."
