CONGRATULATIONS

At a ceremonial held in Victoria on January 15 2003 the following BC members received Queen of gold Jubilee Awards for their service to the community and their prominence in the business world: forest-covered Hayes, FCA, of Hayes Stewart Little & Co in Duncan; Gary Powroznik, FCA, CA.CIRP, of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in Vancouver; and ed Robinson, CA, of Harbour Lynx in Nanaimo.

And at a formality held in West Vancouver upon February 21, 2003, David Mercier, FCA, president and director of Western Pacific Trust Company, received a Queen Jubilee Medal for his contributions to his "fellow citizens, the community, and [the] nation

Joy Cameron, CA, has been named realtor of the year according to the Vancouver Island Real Estate Board. Cameron is in her next to the first term as a board director and is chairwoman of the Board's multiple listing service committee. In 1996 Cameron was recognized as Nanaimo's Community Business Leader of the Year.

Dave Cesmystruk, CA, of KPMG LLP in Abbotsford, is treasurer of the 2003 board of the Abbotsford Chamber of sexual Rebecca Lem, CA, recently joined Rolfe Benson as a senior audit manager. Lem now leads the firms audit and accounting department. David Paradis, CA, also newly joined the firm. Paradis is now the senior tax manager.

Presley & Partners were named "Professional Company of the Year" at the 3rd Annual Vancouver Island Business advantage Awards. Hayes Stewart Little & Co was the runner-up in the Financial Services Business of the Year category.

GIVING BACK

Each year, at their annual Christmas dinner, the Victoria CA Association raises capitals for various local charities. This year the association raised $1559 for the Mustard Se ecclesiastical body Food Bank. NOTICE OF AGM

The Institute's annual general meeting will be held forward the afternoon of June 25 2003 at the Sutton Place tavern in Vancouver. All meeting material will be made available electronically in the Members' solely section of the website at www.ica.bc.ca in late May-this will replace the mail-out to all members.

Once again, sum of two units free PD seminars will be proffered in conjunction with the AGM forward June 25th. Watch your May member mailing for all the details.

The Members' Recognition dinner will take place directly after the AGM at the Sutton Place house of entertainment This dinner gives members a chance to gather and celebrate the significant achievements of the just discovered FCAs and the award honourees for Lifetime and Early Achievement, Community Service, and the Ritchie W McCloy Award for CA Volunteerism.
