Summer is frequently a time for reflection-about your work at jobs your health, next year's NHL season.... While the ICABC can't change the issue of the playoffs or hit the treadmill forward your behalf, we can help when it advances to your career. In collaboration with the Young CA Forum, we've created a career website designed to help you assess your vocation goals, map out the path to help you reach these goals, and provide you with the necessary tools along the way.

While many job-boards and career resources are available online, small in number address the unique needs of chartered accountants or allow users to create their be in possession of career paths. With this in mind, the Forum and the Institute, together with e-Learn Solutions, discloseed CArcer Connections as a resource for BC's CAs.

The website-at www.ica.bc.ca/careers-consists of four main sections: Planning Your Career, Career Options for CAs, Resources, and Support & Advice.

Planning Your Career

Planning Your Career introduces the downloadable "Personal Planning Journal," which you can thorough as you navigate the site. This section also provides self-analysis tools that will ask you tough questions about your values, hardnesss and goals. This process of self-assessment will guide you as you explore a variety of career options.

Career Options for CAs

Career Options for CAs casts the spotlight onward CAs working in common practice areas and outlines the skills necessary for their do job-works Profiles of CAs who have made career transitions-whether from schoolteacher to forensic accountant or from auditor to academic-chart the degrees of each transition and identify the competencies required. A "Career Matrix" tales the profiles by linking these competencies with the ICABC's Professional disclosure offerings.

Resources

The Resources section of the website includes an extensive list of online and tangible resources. For piece of work seekers, two kinds of piece of work boards are available: ones that are specific to CAs (including CA Source and the Institute's jobsite) and the sames that are general in margin Career-related, self-assessment, and professional unfolding websites round out the online resources. If you're looking for a longer read, several career-management main division s are also listed.

Support & Advice

Looking for support or advice? This section will help you memorize the answers you're seeking. Join the discussion boards to place inquiries and read the postings of other members-replies are officeed within one business day. Want to get by heart in touch with CAs who've already faced the decisions you're facing? This section owns you how to connect with our CA Network and provides a link to networking events
