CASB learners ascend the podium! T...CASB learners ascend the podium! The CA educate of Business (CASB) students who wrote he 2004 Uniform Evaluation (UFE) are to be congratulated for achieving a number of "firsts": * 79% of the 742 case candidates who attempted the UFE this year were prosperous This pass rate places CASB atop the four regional education systems * 842% of the 518 candidates who wrote for the first time this year were prosperous also the highest pass rate in the country * 28 CASB candidates placed onward the national honour roll consisting of the top 58 candidates in Canada-significantly more than any other region. * CASB candidates surpassed the national average in spells of the percentage achieving "competent" and "highly competent" in all areas, and led all regions in this percentage for: pervasive qualities; assurance; performance measurement; finance; and organizational effectiveness, manage and risk management. National pass rate achieves fresh high The overall national pass percentage of 745 exhibits a new milestone for the UFE up from 655% last year. The national firstattempt pass rate is 784% up from 696% last year. 2004 marks the next to the first year of the new "competency-based" evaluation hypothesis and the results reflect candidates' increased understanding of and comfort with this novel approach, and the effectiveness of the regional delivery classifications across the country. Candidate populations Across the native land the number of candidates writing the 2004 UFE decreased at 46 to 2,561. In Western Canada, the number of CASB candidates decreased through only four to 742. BC exhibited 299 of the 742 CASB candidates. BC candidate wins regional gold medal One of our acknowledge BC candidates, Michael Chubb, of KPMG LLP in Vancouver, is the recipient of the Chartered Accountants of Canada Gold Medal for the highest standing in Western Canada forward the 2004 UFE. What's more, 14 of the 28 honour-roll positions in Western Canada went to BC candidates. We congratulate Michael and all of the honour-roll scholars for their outstanding achievement! Flow-through rate remains outstanding Candidates who wrote for the first time in 2002 achieved a flow-through rate of 94% after three attempts. With this finalization of attempts for the 2002 candidates, we have achieved a flow-through rate of 92% or above for the last 12 consecutive years. The cumulative other attempt pass rate for candidates who wrote for the first time last year is already at 895% with the same attempt still remaining. Analysis of the results Pass percentages through number of attempts were 842% onward first attempt (518 candidates); 699% in succession second attempt (166 candidates); and 467% forward third attempt (30 candidates). One of CASB's explicit objectives is to achieve a better linkage between learning and experience. Theoretically, amplification of experience should strengthen a candidate's performance forward a competency-based evaluation. This year's pass percentages based forward months of experience provide a certain quantity of evidence to support this theory, suggesting that candidates with sum of two units years of experience may be better prepared to achieve succes upon the UFE. The pass percentages for candidates in the five experience categories-1-12 month 13-18 month 19-24 month 25-30 month and across 30 months-were 72.7, 79.3, 906 827 and 766% respectively. Analysis based onward university grade point average demonstrates a efficient relationship between GPA and candidate succes forward the UFE. Candidates with GPAs through the whole extent of 80% achieved an outstanding pass rate of 886% Candidates with GPAs between 75-79% and 70-74% achieved pass rates of 793% and 703% respectively. The 67 CASB candidates with GPAs between 65 and 69 attained a pass rate of 567% New class programs perform well-co-op programs continue to excel! The top performance based in succession degree programs went to co-op bookish mans (89 candidates) and CMA/CGA bridging candidates (20) with 843 and 900% respectively. In BC the overall pass rates for UBC SFU and the University of Victoria were 826% 74% and 778% respectively. The 25 graduates of the UBC Co-op Program achieved an outstanding pass rate of 920% and the 21 graduates of the SFU Co-op Program achieved a pass rate of 714% Six of EC's smaller measure programs achieved pass rates in exces of 60%: Okanagan University society - 100% (five candidates); Malaspina 100% (three candidates); Royal Roads - 90% (ten candidates); BCIT - 889% (nine candidates); University corporation of the Fraser Valley - 857% (seven candidates); and UNBC -75% (eight candidates).
