CONGRATULATIONS

Bev Briscoe, CA, has been named to the BC Competition Council by the agency of Premier Gordon Campbell. The Council is comprised of leading British Columbians, and will advise command on making the province's economy more competitive, more productive, and more attractive to job-creating investment. In addition to her involvement with the Council, Briscoe will remain chair of the Industry Training Authority and continue to be of use to on the boards of directors for Westminster Savings and Credit Union and BC Rail cluster of Companies.

The Institute of Internal Auditors (The IIA) Vancouver Chapter is pleased to announce that Craig Whyte CA, CIA, of Grant Thornton LLP in of recent origin Westminster, has met the rigorous requirements of the IIA's Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) program and is entitled to use the CIA designation.

SFU Business Impact Awards

Brandt Louie, FCA, not long ago received a Business Impact Award (Professional) from Simon Fraser University. Louie generally chairs SFU's board of governors. Name: African Canadian Continuing Education Society (ACCES)

Who are they: A BC non-profit organization that has been "helping young Africans obtain the skills and education wanted to benefit themselves and society" for throughout 12 years. ACCES operates nine primary sects in Kenya for over 1000 observers who are unable to afford public instruct It has also provided scholarships to through the whole extent of 900 Kenyans to study in Kenyan post-secondary institutions and universities; glides an HIV/AIDS education program; and provides small business loans for their graduates.

Seeking: A bookkeeper and an accountant to help with accounting duties and to provide strategic guidance from a financial point of view. (Annual income is approximately $350,000.)

Time: Bookkeeper: approximately six hours by month. Accountant: two committee/board meetings by month, plus approximately four hours by means of month for correspondence.

Who they are: The Vancouver International Comedy Festival was grounded in 1987 and celebrated it's 18th year this last October with a of the present day look and new location in the heart of Downtown Vancouver.

Starting: Starting as betimes as available. This position is a year-round commitment. Board meetings happen once a month and more many times leading up to the festival (September 2005)
