Able to leap tall buildings It's 8:...Able to leap tall buildings It's 8:45 a.m. forward September 27, 2005-a beautiful day in Vancouver. The air is crisp, the sunshine is out, and Fm watching as a chartered accountant in a Superman style of dress prepares to jump off a building. It's not your average Tuesday morning. This particular Tuesday marked the Vancouver instalment of the Easter Seals(TM) "Drop Zone" a fundraising result that took place across Canada for the first time this summer In addition to Vancouver, very little Zones were set up in Victoria, Calgary, Winnipeg, Toronto, Montreal, Moncton, and Halifax. The affair gives ordinary people the extraordinary opportunity to raise foundations for local children with disabilities according to rappelling down office towers in their communities. Archie Campbell, CA, LLB became involved after another participant emailed him for sponsorship. "I decided it was something I could do too," he recalls, "and it was as it is an unusual idea that I reflection it would be easy to raise money" Seem he was right. After setting a hostage goal of $2,000 (participants must raise at least $1500) Archie hurt up raising $8,645, making him the highest fundraiser for Vancouver and single of the top single fundraisers across the native land The money he raised will advance to the BC Lions Society for Children with Disabilities. Archie describes the rappel itself as "fabulous from beginning to end" moreover he admits to some healthy trepidation. "Getting above the edge at the top of the building is definitely a challenge of mind athwart matter," he says. "But what an adrenaline rush!" As for his choice of style of dress Archie explains: "The event was about being a superhero for kids with disabilities, in the way that I diought a superhero outfit was in order. And hey, it's not each day you get to dres up as Superman." When not in superhero variety Archie works as VP of finance and CFO with FPI Forest works International Ltd., a private manufacturer/distributor of high-end forest gas, and biomass hearth yields located in Delta. He's been with the company for just above four years, having previously worked as CFO and VP of management and acquisitions with Voyus Canada Inc. Outside of work, he regard with affections to golf, read, and consume time with his "fabulous wife Kathleen and brace wonderful sons Thomas and Sean." The adventurous CA is grateful for that atypical Tuesday morning in September. "I got the chance to adapted new people and share in a once-in-a-lifetime experience," Archie says. "More importantly, I was able to do something special for others les fortunate and raise coin to help them overcome everyday challenges. They are the real superheroes." It's 8:50 a.m. upon September 27, 2005, and I'm watching Superman lower himself to the acres As a volunteer removes his safety gear, Archie outstretches his arms like he's a crossing a finish line and shouts: "I want to move again!" His exhilaration is palpable. And apparently contagious... I sign up for 2006 Archie Campbell qualified as a CA in Scotland in 1992 and joined the ICABC on affiliation in 1995.
