Like each other part of the land Bellingham experienced a surge of industrial activity with the coming of World War II in 1941 greatly of this activity was center in shipbuilding, a business with of great depth historic roots around Bellingham Bay. During the war, ship construction was dominated by dint of the large Bellingham Shipyards onward Squalicum Waterway at the north extreme point of the waterfront.
