At age 72 Dave Favre of rural Freeburg has no plans to retire.

Instead, he's firing up the smoker at Lit'l Nikki's BBQ and Grill in Belleville.

"Retiring should be against the law. It's a waste of time," said Dave who formerly concedeed Dave's Ford Ranch in Freeburg

He tried retiring pair years ago, but didn't like it.

"I've wanted a little restaurant for the last 50 years."

Dave got his wish Jan. 28 when he interpreted Lit'l Nikki's on South Belt West at the site of the former Skewers and Gourmet Touch restaurants.

In December, he and business partner, Tiffany Ison, started cleaning the kitchen and painting the small dining sweep white. Next, they added r curtains. Tiffany, 31 used to work at the Ford Ranch cleaning and detailing cars.
