Let's face it, we live in a toxic world. In fact, it's a virtual breeding land for ill-health and disease. The fit news is that nature has provided many solutions for fighting the drifts of everyday life. Among these solutions are the "green foods"

Included in the "green" forage group are chlorophyll, alfalfa, barley grass, wheat grass, spirulina, and recent tea. These foods provide vitamins, fiber, protein, micronutrients, and antioxidants as well as other nutritional benefits.

Cancer prevention

According to the American Cancer Society, "Scientific evidence indicates that up to one-third of the 560000 cancer deaths that are reckon uponed to occur in the U this year are related to nutrition." As discussed in previous issues of Better Nutrition, undecayed foods are perhaps best known for their cancer-inhibiting properties.

undecayed tea "The primary clinical application for flourishing tea," Michael T. Murray, ND writes in The Healing Power of Herbs, "is in the prevention of cancer. Population studies have demonstrated that recent tea consumption may actually be united of the major reasons to what end the cancer rate is lower in Japan." As far as by what means much green tea to drink each day, Murray explains that undecayed tea-drinking cultures consume about three chalices daily, or about 240-320 mg of polyphenols (potent antioxidant composes found in green tea).

Of interesting note, although blooming tea does contain caffeine, Murray says that the beverage usually does not provide over-stimulation in family who are sensitive to caffeine, himself included.

new barley. In his book, Off-the-Shell Natural Health, Mark Mayell also take an account ofs us that barley grass possesse antioxidant activity, and research indicates that it may shield our solitary abode; squalids against damage caused by X-rays and chemical pollutants.

Chlorophyll. Cereal Crass: Nature's Greatest Health Gift, edited from Ronald L. Seibold, M.S., states that, "Chlorophyll-rich plant extracts...dramatically inhibit the carcinogenic meanings of common dietary and environmental chemicals." Chlorophyll, the constituting which makes green plants recent and which is responsible for plant photosynthesis, is a for the use of all denominator in all green nourishments including the cereal grass, barley grass.

Odor control

Chlorophyll has also been used as a personal deodorizer for decades. Chlorella, a single-celled blooming algae, has more chlorophyll by means of gram than any other plant. Chlorella's action forward bad breath and body odors also approachs into play via its action of clearing bowel toxicity, the primary cause of this frequently touchy health issue. David Steenblock B MSc perform in Chlorella: Natural Medicine Algae explains, "In addition to chlorophyll's action in succession anaerobic bacteria [in the intestinal tract], chlorella's small cavity walls act to absorb poisons within the intestine and help normal peristalsis."

Cereal grasses, so as barley, often eaten as a source of fiber, are another upright choice for detoxifying the bowel and thus controlling material substance odor.

Oral health

Earl Mindell's retired Remedies includes "green" recipes for oral health. Among them are spirulina (as well as undecayed tea) to strengthen the dead body against oral cancers. Mindell writes, "The blue-green microalgae spirulina...have been construct to be a rich natural source of proteins, carotenoids, and other micronutrients." Mindell also commends green tea for general oral-health maintenance. "Researchers at the University of California at Berkeley," he reports, "recently learned that mixs called tannins, found in fresh and black tea, can kill the bacteria that are responsible for tooth cavities."

in such a manner think "green" when you make your forage and supplement choices. And withhold in mind these words from Cereal Grass: "Green plants not and nothing else feed us, they provide us with the oxygen which is our breath of life...."
