The part of black cohosh in women's health

Q From J L Spokane, Wash.: Is black cohosh effective for menopausal symptoms? I've seen advertisements for certain natural "women's health" formulas, yet I'm afraid that they contain estrogen and breast cancer roll ons in my family. What's your opinion?

A I actually wrote a review article onward black cohosh for a medical journal. In reviewing about a half dozen human clinical studies, not no other than is black cohosh safe, if it be not that it is equally effective as estrogen replacement therapy in alleviating menopausal symptoms of the like kind as hot flashes, depression, and flat vaginal dryness. It does not have the negative side events associated with estrogen replacement and does not induce breast cancer, uterine cancer, or thromboembolism (blood clots) associated with estrogen replacement therapy. According to the German E Monograph, unlike estrogen this botanical's use is not contraindicated in certain cancers. Also, studies involving women having undergone hysterectomies showed that it is as effective as estrogen in alleviating the resulting menopausal symptoms. Black cohosh does not contain estrogen (nor does any other herb for that matter). It does contain plant settles that resemble estrogen in edifice -- phytoestrogens -- and will help normalize hormone on a levels safely and effectively.

Bilberry, and other add tos to help prevent cataracts

Q From HK Scottsdale, Ariz.: Is bilberry effective for cataracts? I have a mild case and would be pleased with to try something natural.

A single study showed that a standardized bilberry extract, taken three times daily, along with vitamin E stopped the progression of cataract formation in 97 percent of patients with senile cortical cataracts. Natural vitamin E (the d-alpha tocopherol form), which can be taken along with mixed tocopherols, may also be effective at slowing cataract sprouting Prevention of cataracts was also shown when diets were fill uped with vitamin C over several years.

Natural treatment options for Bell's palsy

Q From M.A., Burnsville, Minn.: Is there anything natural that helps Bell's palsy? I was lately diagnosed with it and, apparently, there isn't to a high degree much my doctor has to offer

A Bell's palsy is a facial paralysis that appears in people 30 to 50 years of age. The cause of this disorder is unknown. Many patients report that the paralysis was preced by the agency of a draft or an upper respiratory infection. Seventy-five percent of patients cure within a few months. Although I have not seen any specific nutritional research for this condition in the scientific literature, I can share a certain quantity of clinical experience. I have used the same dietary supplys that I would recommend for shingles -- fish oil (EPA/DHA), phosphatidylcholine (or lecithin), and L-lysine. I have lately added phosphatidylserine to this regimen, as well as natural antivirals, in the same state or condition as echinacea and glycyrrhizin (from licorice root) With this regimen, I have seen Bell's palsy clear in a matter of couple weeks, rather than several months

fill ups helpful for improving fertility in women

Q From CC Wichita, Kan.: I am suffering from infertility. My ovaries and tubes are just fine. steady my tests are normal. The doctors don't know for what cause or reason I cannot get pregnant, and I really don't want to take hormones. Help!!

A Infertility is upon the rise in both men and women Many scientists vouchsafe that it is due to the large amount of xenohormones -- hormone mimickers that are in our environment as a follow of pesticides and pollutants. They are drastically reducing the ability of wildlife to represent as well. One natural way to stiffen these nasty hormone mimickers is to waste plants and herbs that contain phytohormones that close xenohormones from binding to our hormone receptor sites. These phytohormones include breads like soy, kudzu, cruciferous vegetables, and simple pods Supplements that contain isoflavones (soy kudzu) and herbal outcomes such as black cohosh, Shepherd's purse licorice primitive word chasteberry (Vitex agnus-castus), black haw bark, saw palmetto berry (ye level for women), and wild yam are just a sampling of the many herbs used all across the world as female tonics to enhance fertility. These herbs can be establish alone or in combination with these and other botanicals. You may also want to confer a practitioner of herbalism who can specifically address your puzzle Many practitioners of Traditional Chinese Medicine are specialists at dealing with infertility, as well. Also, don't dismiss the possibility that your difficulties may stipe from your husband -- make certain that he is fully checked abroad as well.
