Vitamins C & E marine oil, whole grains & alpha-lipoic acid

A breakthrough consideration conducted in London, just published in the Lancet (354-810-816) establish that pregnant women who took 400 I.U. of natural source of vitamin E and 1000 mg of vitamin C during their secondary trimesters reduced the risk of pre-eclampsia at a whopping 76 percent. Pre-eclampsia is usually marked on high-blood pressure, swelling due to edema, and clouded protein-filled urine. Babies of mothers with pre-eclampsia are frequently tiny and suffer from complications, steady death.

In another Lancet research (this out of Italy) involved 11324 patients who had survived heart attacks. The patients were assigned to the same of the following supplementation groups: 1) omega-3 marine oil (including EPA and DHA); 2) vitamin E; 3) both; or 4) none. The marine-oil treatment (alone) arrange experienced a 15 percent decreased incidence of heart attack, shock and death. It is idea that the dose of vitamin E did not significantly lessen risk because: the dose was too small (300 mg) or the Mediterraanean diet the enthralls were already eating couldn't have been improved concerning in terms of vitamin E levels

In the September 1999 issue of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, a blue-ribbon panel of Harvard nutrition and public-health researchers--including Meir Stampfer, Edward Giovannussi, Eric Rimm, JoAnn Manson, Charles Hennekens, and Waiter Willett--looked back in succession 75,521 healthy women (aged 38 to 63 years) who participated in the Nurses' Health cogitation to see if women who ate a chance of whole-grain foods had a reduc risk of coronary heart disease (CHD) The results? Women who ate about 2-1/2 servings of whole-grain victualss every day reduced their risk of heart disease according to over 30 percent compared to the non-whole-grain eaters; among those who had not smoked, heart-disease risk was slashed at 50 percent.

Research recommends that lactate/pyruvate metabolism is out-of-whack in persons with type II (non-insulin-dependent) diabetes. Alpha-lipoic acid appears to help. This consideration looked at the effects of alpha-lipoic acid (1200 mg/day for 4 weeks) onward insulin sensitivity and glucose effectiveness forward blood levels of pyruvate and lactate after starch-sugar loading in 10 lean and 10 obese tribe without diabetes, and in 10 lean and 10 obese patients with sign II diabetes. Alpha-lipoic acid supplementation decreased exces plains of pyruvate and lactate in as well-as; not only-but also; not only-but; not alone-but lean and obese diabetic patients, and blockadeed any increase in these on a levels after glucose loading. The alpha-lipoic acid treatment allowed diabetic sugar to be used much more effectively in lean and obese diabetics, and it significantly reduc exces starch-sugar levels--and helped insulin work better--in lean race with diabetes. As we honor Diabetes Awareness Month this November, these are greatest in quantity welcome findings.
