Better Nutrition received tremendous reader rejoinder to the March 1999 article, "The disgusting principle about most pet foods today." Here, pet-food person specially versed Ann N. Martin shares her insights upon this important topic.

Many pet-food companies are introducing "natural" fondling foods. These foods supposedly contain human-grade ingredients sans preservatives of that kind as BHA, BHT, and ethoxyquin. If they say that their suppliers use sole natural preservatives, question if they, the company, actually proof the product to be indisputable only natural preservatives are used in the raw material.

Reading labels is of prime importance. You may have feeling because meat, in one form or another, is the first ingredient listed then the main ingredient must be meat. In fact, grains make up greatest in quantity of the ingredients in free from moisture pet food.
