In a research of 14,908 children aged 4 to 11 years--in England, Scotland and in an English inner city area--researchers establish that those children who were obese according to their material part mass index (BMI) were frequently more inclined to suffer from asthma and wheezing, although it's not clear whether the asthma contributes to obesity or the obesity (along with the hormone, leptin) contributes to the asthma. In the inner city sample, asthma and obesity were related in girls on the other hand not in boys. COPYRIGHT 2001 PRIMEDIA Intertec, a PRIMEDIA Company. All Rights Reserved COPYRIGHT 2001 Gale Group
