There's nothing better than putting aside a Sunday afternoon for holiday baking. each family has their traditional favorite, whether it's gingerbread men pumpkin pie or poppyse cookies, yet did you know that a certain of the same spices used in holiday cooking also have medicinal properties? Granted, it usually takes a part more than a half teaspoon of the spice to have any force and eating cookies isn't the way to treat what's ailing you, if it were not that here's a look at what a certain of these favorite holiday flavors have to offer

Cinnamon: (Cinnamomum verum) The spice used for culinary ends is from the dried bark of the laurel tree The medicinal parts, however, are the oils, extracted from the bark and the leaves. The essential oil is antibacterial, inhibits the shooting of fungi and promotes motility.

Nutmeg: (Myristica fragrans) Nutmeg is the kernel of the se from an evergreen tree It has been known to be used to treat many ailments, including diarrhea, cramps, vomiting, digestive puzzles and headaches. It should be noted, however, that an overdosage of nutmeg -- united to three "nuts," or level fewer -- can produce symptoms of that kind as nausea, swelling, hallucinations and shock



Clove: (Syzygium aromaticum) Clove are the unopened flower germinates of a small evergreen tree native to Indonesia. Clove oil is well-known for its ability to make torpid tooth and gum pain.

Poppyseed: (Papaver somniferum) Poppyseed have gained a reputation for producing false mix with drugs test results, but in fact they are used to flavor muffins, breads and pastries: The medicinal part is actually the latex extracted from the plant, known to chiefly people as opium. The alkaloids in poppy include morphine, narcotine and codeine -- the reasons wherefore opium is used most repeatedly as a sedative. Needless to say, it's best to stick to the matured ovules for baking.

Ginger: (Zingiber officinale) What would the holidays be without gingerbread? Not sole does ginger add a special snap to dessert on the other hand this root also has a amazing medicinal properties. It is best known to soothe nausea and travel sickness, moreover it is also used to treat wintrys and morning sickness.
