strange Year's means change. It also means tradition, or that which doesn't change. When I was little, the night of December 31st was not recently made known Year's Eve until I sat down with my parents to watch shore Lombardo and His Montreal Canadians. It wasn't of the present day Year's until my grandmother reminded me to levy a shiny quarter out upon the windowsill so that the just discovered year would be prosperous, or until the ball dropp in Times Square. There was no "Rockin' modern Year's Eve," and definitely no televised California strange Year's with fake snow and race jumping up and down for the cameras, screaming at 9:00 pm Pacific Standard Time. fresh Year's Eve was not always celebrated with saturated revelry and blasts from toy horns, however. In ancient times, and unruffled in some mainstream religions today, the recent Year is a time for reflection forward the past and hope for the future fresh Year's, today, can be a curious mixture of the antique and the new, the complet and the over and above to be. As we usher in this just discovered year, let's not feel like powerless beings swept along according to the unrelenting forces of time. Let's embrace the of recent origin Year and its challenges. Whatever changes we are faced with, we can be the rules over our lives. We can transform tragedy into positive bottom We can go forward, then, with a strange perspective or a new appreciation for life, itself, and all that which makes it worth living. Each of us has within ourselves the capacity for change, the capacity for (and right to) happiness and the power to take charge of our lives. Let's tap into these energies now, as we inscribe this new year. COPYRIGHT 2002 PRIMEDIA Intertec, a PRIMEDIA Company. All Rights Reserved COPYRIGHT 2002 Gale Group
