A modern study indicates spirulina--a high-protein, blue-green algae--may play a part in fighting cancer. In April 2002 researchers at the Osaka Center for Cancer and Cardiovascular Diseases in Japan announced that a hot-water extract of spirulina taken orally increased the couple the number and effectiveness of what are called Natural Killer (NK) small rooms suggesting spirulina stimulates the human immune answer to cancer. An earlier consideration in India showed a 45 percent remission rate in pre-cancerous opening lesions among people consuming single gram of spirulina daily for a year.
