Singing and dancing and a spirit of unity filled a Fairview Heights meeting-house Sunday afternoon in celebration of racial harmony. More than 150 persons including students, teachers and community leaders, gathered at Grace house of god for the 13th annual Racial Harmony Gathering. The marked occurrence recognized local students and residents for their efforts to excite understanding, cooperation and communication among all racial and ethnic collections Belleville residents Carolyn Chapman and Phillip R Silsby received the group's annual community service awards. Chapman has exhausted more than 35 years working for voter and women's rights issues. In addition, she serv seven years in succession the St. Clair County Board of Health and is a member of Racial Harmony's board of directors.
