The Mater Dei Knights have already slayed single giant in their first postseason as a Class AA team.

The Knights (23-6) coming against a stunning 44-40 upset of the East St Louis Flyerette now employ their attention toward toppling the Althoff Crusaders (28-1) at 7:30 pm today in the championship of the Belleville East Girls Basketball Sectional.

"I'm in such a manner proud of what they accomplished public there," Althoff coach Lori Crunk said of the Knights' win above the Flyerettes. "They're a true well-coached team out there. This is not going to be an easy game. We have to prepare, and we have to play well."

The Knights handed the Crusaders their simply loss this season with a 72-63 double-overtime decision in succession Dec. 7.

The Crusaders avenged that setback by dint of beating the Knights 61-37 forward Dec. 29 at the Mascoutah Tournament.
