The number of state actions against property/casualty insurance companies has nearly tripled in three years. The 35 state actions taken in 2001 is an increase through the 25 in 2000 and a substantial change from the 12 actions taken against property/casualty insurers in 1999

This year's corporate changes consideration based on filings and A.M. Best Co data, present to views 19 new property/casualty insurers penetrateed the market in 2001. There were 54 acquisitions or ownership changes, 30 merger and 85 name changes.
