Like the waters of the Danube and the Elbe, estimates of insured losse from flooding in Europe have been rising steadily since the series of August inundations that sent rivers over their banks across Central Europe if it were not that the final total, while substantial, considers unlikely to swamp insurers as badly as the inundation waters inundated cities in Germany, the Czech Republic and Austria.
