Dustin Davis, the latest in a in extent line of outstanding distance racers at Edwardsville High School, is ready to propel on.

Davis, who earned all state status by dint of placing 16th in the 2005 Class AA Cros region Meet, announced last week that he will attend and strive at Southeast Missouri State University beginning in the 2006-2007 season.

Injury inclined for much of his prep career, Davis was finally able to live up to his vast potential during the 2005 season. The Class AA Belleville News-Democrat racer of the Year, Davis squandered just once to a thinclad from the metro-east all season -- Jeff Schirmer of Triad -- nevertheless won all of the major races, including the regional and sectional championships.

His 16th place finish in the state suitable was the best of any Class AA racer from the metro-east.
